SOS WMN ISSUE
Street crime affects social development in all countries. This social situation compromises the integrity of people who circulate on the street everyday. The high rate of incidences of these events causes people to feel insecure while they walk. Robbery with/without violence, kidnapping, rape, murder, assault are examples of crimes that people are vulnerable to experience.
Mexico has a complex social issue that affects women’s physical integrity. In the last years, the number of crimes targeting women by their genre has been on the rise. Sexual crimes, domestic abuse, and femicide are the types of crimes they are exposed everyday. In 2020 Mexico registered 490 cases of femicide; in addition, the 911 calls registered a total number of 260,067 cases related to incidents of violence against women.
